Christmas shopping for... The Life Loving Gourmet

Whilst I don't think being obsessed with food is a good thing, I think being obsessed with good food is wonderful! For all of you who have a friend who is a true epicurean in the modern sense of the word, here are a few ideas for this Christmas.

1. Better than one hour at the shrink: Buy your Fashionista Foodie a box of specially infused chocolates from La Maison du Chocolat and see them melt with magnesium happiness. I am completely partial to the dark chocolate perfumed with vine peaches that comes in the Habanera giftbox.
Box prices differ, Habanera 360gr box costs $38.50
2. Pink bubbles please: Forget Cristal and its hordes of cash-flashing fans, when it comes to Champagne I stick to Veuve Clicquot. My favourite is the 1998 Grande Dame Rose: 1998 was a fantastic year for Veuve, and this wine with its rich salmony pink colour and its aromas of fruit and vanilla takes me straight to heaven every time.
If you can still find a bottle, it should set you off approx. £200 for a 75cl bottle.

3. Zuma mon amour: If you like gifting moments as opposed to things, this is for you. Book a table at Zuma in Knightsbridge and invite your very own Gourmet to join you around fantastic japanese food, great cocktails and one of the best vibes in town. The sushi is melt-in-mouth perfect, and the selection of innovative starters is fantastic. This place gets booked up 4 weeks in advance for dinner so make sure you plan ahead!
Approx. price per person without drinks is £65

4. Cocotte hour: There is nothing better to prepare Coq au Vin, Blanquettes... all the big wintry dishes that will make your Fashionista Foodie's dinner parties a massive success in the new year. No kitchen is complete without a cocotte from Le Creuset.
Buy one for approximately £100 at selected stores or on http://www.divertimenti.co.uk/

5. Truffle delight: Your in-house Gourmet will be able to add some va-va-voom to their risottos and pasta dishes with this simple yet oh-so powerful little ingredient, the white truffle from Italy!
Order 15g for around £79.99 on http://www.efoodies.co.uk/ or check out your nearest delicatessen.
