Baubles ain't just for Christmas, it's time to look at summer jewellery!

During the winter months, I accessorise mainly with warm scarves, knee-high boots, hats... and by the time I'm done I don't really feel the need to add jewellery, with the exception of my usual combo of watch - thread bracelet - wedding rings and the odd CDC bracelet.

Now, as soon as summer arrives and the heavy coats go off, I just love to stack up the custom jewellery; I especially enjoy it when I'm tanned from a few days in the sunshine. Incredible how a large gold cuff will set off a nice tan (not a sunburn... there is no piece of jewellery, no matter how beautiful, that will help a sunburn look nice, so slap on the 30SPF everyone!).

One of my favourite go-to designers for summer jewellery is Kenneth Jay Lane, which I find at Merola on 195 Fulham Road in South Kensington (I don't really enjoy buying jewellery on-line, I prefer walking into a shop and trying things on).

The designs are often nature-inspired, and I love the colours, which are perfect summer colours (white, peach, turquoise, emerald green). I recently picked up a large coral-like cuff, a pair of dangly earrings which will look amazing with a white evening dress, and a little snake ring.

I can't wait for my summer holidays to Ecuador with hubby dearest, with two full weeks out in a warm place I should get plenty of opportunity to try these babies out. (I know, it is still 4 months away but there is nothing wrong with anticipation!).

Find Kenneth Jay Lane at Merola, on NaP, at Harvey Nicks...
