A spring day in the park

So far, so beautiful! If the last few days are anything to go by, Spring 2011 promises to be one to remember. The weather in London has been absolutely beautiful with temperatures in their twenties for the past few days, and even though things cooled down somewhat today we still managed to have a glorious week-end!

In fact, the weather was so summery that I thought we'd switch some of the Bugaboo's fabric from denim to a fresher off-white canvas; I love how the mix of denim and canvas looks, and our little baby definitely looked like he was having a breezier time in the new combo.

As any adopted Londoner will tell you, when this happens, one has better make the best of it as the weather can easily take a turn for the worse for a very very long time. Summer 2009 anyone? So, keen to enjoy the weather, I took my little family over to Hyde Park on Saturday, where we enjoyed long walks along the flowery paths, lazy breaks on the lawns, and gazed adoringly at the blossoming trees.

Lunch for the little one was on our picnic blanket set near the Serpentine, and for us adults was an indulging two course break at the Orangerie, the only place in Hyde Park worth eating at (you seriously want to avoid the cafes around the Serpentine, they serve vile frozen junk food, well not even serve, as they are self-service places...). The Orangerie serves a really simple but lovely menu, and you can even indulge in high tea. I had a superfood salad with a chicken liver pate (I hope you appreciate the naughty but nice choice!), followed by a berry meringue, and washed down with some nice fresh rose, whilst hubby dearest had the fishcake and a banana and walnut cake. Little baba had milk, as I'm sure you guessed.

Interestingly we managed to spend the whole day outside without taking too much equipment out: everything we took fit in the medium LLBean tote hanging from the Bugaboo, except for the picnic blanket which we put in the basket under the buggy. Here is what we took for a day out:
- Picnic blanket
- 2 muslins
- 1 bib
- 3 bottles
- 3 cartons of baby milk
- Changing kit including mat, nappies, wipes and cream
- Baby sun cream
- A couple of hanging toys

Here is a picture we took by one of the beautiful magnolia trees. I'm wearing a dress by Alice & Olivia, gladiators by Steve Madden, a Gucci flora hobo, and Givenchy sunglasses.

I usually use the black canopy too and bought the off white breezy canopy last summer. I love how fresh the cameleon looks but it gets dirty so quickly :( A stupid bird pooped on my cameleon today at the playground!
