Antik Batik sandals, ideal for summer

There is nothing I love more about summer than getting a beautiful pedicure (essential for this look, there is really no embellishment that will make dirty toe nails acceptable, ever) and donning some gorgeous sandals, before heading out to the beach. To me, embellished flat sandals are so much more than mere shoes: they are the promise of sunshine and warm weather, clear turquoise water waves and skin smelling of sunscreen mixed with sea salt.

As usual, this season I went on the hunt for a couple of additions to my already large collection of summer sandals, and this Antik Batik pair is the stuff dreams are made of. The colour sits somewhere between khaki and grey, which means I can wear these babies with an infinite number of outfits: can you think of a colour this wouldn't go with? I can't.

The jewels on the straps convey just the right amount of relaxed luxe: basically this isn't a Birkenstock (I have nothing against Birks but I think they look better on polished feet in the right setting, for example a trek in the Galapagos, rather than Kings Road on a Saturday) but it isn't a Rene Caovilla either (I do actually have a lot against the all glittery crystallised sandals by Caovilla, they bring images of "dancing and entertaining" clubs to my head, Spearmint Rhinestones anyone?)

Finally, the sandal itself: perfectly strappy without being uncomfortable (straps around the toes are the worst, in my experience), with a tiny heel to make walking easier on the spine,... In a nutshell, this is Boho perfection in a sandal.

Akatong sandal by Antik Batik (Taupe or Brown, mine are Taupe)

Love those sandals. I recently got myself a pair of Bling sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti. I will have to check out yours!
