Three reasons to look forward to winter

I know we've barely had a London summer, and it's starting to feel positively chilly in the mornings (try getting out of the house every morning at 6:00am!), but I have long since found a way to deal with end of summer holidays melancholia by going shopping for winter clothes! I have three special pieces that I'm particularly looking forward to wearing this new season...

First up, the perfect coat. As you know each year I invest in one really good quality coat, and usually I buy these as soon as the AW stock begins to drop. At £850 this is a real investment coat: I ordered this Burberry trench-style grey baby back in May, and I've been drooling over the soft wool and cashmere mix for the past few weeks, waiting rather impatiently for the first days of cold when I'll be able to wear it. It has all the looks of a modern trench and will feel amazing in early morning walks through the City.

I've also started stocking up on some off-duty essentials, such as these Tory Burch embellished shearling booties (picked up on sale on The Outnet at under £90)... They will be a fantastic alternative to the ubiquitous UGG boots, providing comfort and warmth whilst still swimming in the pool of high fashion sharks.

Finally, a skirt that will work fabulously well on or off duty. I love the navy wool feel, and the chocolate leather details are just what is needed to take this skirt from mumsy to yummy. I can see how it will work well with knee-high boots for a week-end lunch and sky-high stilettos in a work meeting. I picked it up at Nicole Farhi in Harvey Nichols for £220.

Don't worry there is loads more I've been stocking up on for AW2011, watch this space! How about you, what did you get your little fashionista paws for the new season?

You'll be so happy with the coat - I invested in a black wool burberry trench a few years ago and it's been wonderful to wear and keeps its quality quite well.

The trench coat is gorgeous, a good classic which I've put it in my NAP wishlist in july before leaving for holidays...obviously it is already sold out in my size. I guess I have to check out the Milan store.
Have a nice weekend!

@BlackisthenewBlack, yes, I can see how this will be the hardest working coat in my collection!

@LoneleyGreenshoe, honestly it is gorgeous in person. Funnily enough before ordering it I popped into two Burberry stores in London to try it on and none of the sales recognised the model, they said it might be an exclusive for NaP and that they didn't have it. Maybe worth contacting NaP and asking them to source you a piece in your size.
