Libélula, beautiful feminine pieces for day and evening

As you know, I am a regular visitor of Austique on Kings Road, so a few years back when I was invited for a black tie affair by one of my clients, I stopped there once more in the hope of finding the wonderful dress that would be elegant, luxurious, and demure enough for an evening with clients.

That's when I discovered Libélula...  An independent designer label, this is the studio line by Sophie Cranston, an ex McQueen graduate who was the pattern cutter for the early Temperley collections. Her creations are not only a testament to her training, but also of her time in Spain's picturesque Andalucia, where Libélula was launched.

You can find the flamenco inspiration in the cuts of her dresses, which are so feminine and the most flattering I've ever worn. My favourite is the silk long Millie, which gives me a tiny waist even post baby and makes every girl around ask where I got it from! I also love the Dulwich coat, perfect for winter weddings: it's much more elegant than trying to layer your day coat over a gorgeous dress, which just ruins the effect, if you ask me. I have it in the blue silk velvet but I'm toying with the idea of ordering it in black as well.

Libélula also makes bespoke bridal wear, which looks absolutely fabulous and oh-so expensive. But you know what is most amazing: most of the pieces from the main collection cost no more than £500! This is why I love independent labels, they make amazing quality at amazing prices, and they give you a unique look that you're unlikely to see on the next girl.
