Five essential handbag shapes for every girl (Part 2)

As promised, here is the second part of my handbag essential list. For the first three shapes, click here. The next two are more what I call off-duty handbags, as I find them tough to integrate into my everyday office, blogging and baby routine, but they are still pretty useful for the odd diner out or evening at the opera!

4. The shoulder strap bag: This is not the most versatile handbag but if worked correctly it can become a real asset in a girl's wardrobe. Evening date, check! Walk in the park, check! Shopping spree at Liberty, check! Best friend's wedding, check! I love the Chanel 2.55 though I think it would look ridiculous on me, I am thinking of giving one of their less classic flaps a try next year, and I'm a big big fan of the Lanvin chain strap Happy series.

5. The evening clutch: Whilst I think clutches are a ridiculous work bag or generally day bag, I believe they are the key to a polished formal event look and they are an absolute must for weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs, black tie balls etc. In my view clutches are to be small and perfect, but that's just my taste! My favourites? Herm├Ęs Kelly Pochette and Wilbur & Gussie Charlie... but I'd love to own a Bottega Veneta knot!

Ok that's it for my top five handbag shapes! How about you, do you have a favourite handbag?
