Sales shopping (1): Christian Louboutin booties

One thing I love about living in London is that the sales start immediately following Christmas, whereas when I used to live in Paris I had to wait until January... As always, my preference when it comes to sales browsing is internet shopping, as I hate trailing the shops when they are over-heated, filled with shoppers and tired merchandise. When I saw the images of Boxing Day sales at Selfridges I did wonder why people would want to put themselves through such a chore: you know me, I love to shop (I get regular shopaholic cards for my birthday... if that's not a sign...), but even if one was to pay my whole shopping spree I would never be able to queue in line for this, then fight over dresses and tops.

And to be honest with all the amazing high-end and more mainstream shopping websites there is now, I don't think there is the need to go sales shopping physically. But it takes some preparation: you have to have a wish list on your favourite websites so that you see immediately if your lust-haves are in the sale, so you can snap them in a minute, from the comfort of your kitchen bar whilst watching over your baba play with his new toys.

Of course, some online sales are better than others, pretty much like the physical shops... my favourite this year has been Matches, which has a 50% discount on amazing goodies from the likes of DVF, McQueen, YSL etc.

I had my eye on these gorgeous suede ankle booties by Christian Louboutin for weeks... I've always loved burgundy but this year it is my absolute favourite colour and I've had to exercise some serious restraint to keep from ordering these weeks before they got in the sale... They are down to £317 from £635. I emailed the stylists at Matches and they still had the 37!!! I'm surprised I was able to still order them in my size, seeing how popular the colour and Loubies are. I think I got lucky!

I wore them all day yesterday, and I have to say, they are amazingly easy to walk in, despite the 12cm heel. Like most Loubies the toe cap gets a bit tight towards the end of a long day but they are incredibly nice to stroll in. I was very nicely surprised! And the colour, well let's just say the photos don't do it much justice.
