When I first moved out of South Kensington to Parsons Green, I was a little dubious about the local amenities, and especially the availability of cool little boutiques in walking distance from my new home (I know it's important to have a good dry cleaner nearby as well, but this post isn't about that). Along the months however, I have come to discover that there are some wonderful shops around, and Katie & Jo in particular is becoming a regular stop for me...
Hidden in the stretch of New King's Road just beyond Parsons Green, this boutique is the world of two childhood friends who have decided to source some grown-up fashion for trendy girls who are not 15 anymore but don't feel like dressing as if they were 50 already. Here you'll find some feminine and ever-flattering labels such as Beulah London, Libelula Studio and Rebecca Taylor. Basically this is the ideal shop for Parsons Green's yummy mummies, who are after trendy pieces which they won't see on everyone, and which will give them a cool yet grown-up look.
The owners are often on hand to give some styling advice, and I can't wait to see how this shop evolves over the coming years! In the meanwhile, here are some of my picks for the new season:
From left to right:
Navy Jumpsuit by Rebecca Taylor: busy women need versatile pieces like this one in their closet, and this jumpsuit will go from office to party with a change of accessories in a heartbeat; I also love that it's navy, in my mind a perfect summer evening colour;
Military Jacket by Maison Scotch: in London, you almost always need a cover-up, even in the height of summer, and this is a perfect off-duty jacket to wear with jeans or day dresses, love...;
Blossom Trousers by Supertrash: I instantly fell in love with these floral print cotton trousers, and I love that although the print is very busy the muted colours mean it's not too much in your face, of course it's already sitting in my wardrobe waiting for the sun to come out;
Chinoiserie Scarf by Lily & Lionel: you know my love of scarves... this one is big and lush and colourful, it would make a great addition for a neutral look;
Violet Dress by Beulah: London label Beulah is having a moment, mainly thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge wearing one of their gowns a few months ago, but really there is more to this designer than the royal seal of approval, the cut of all the pieces I've tried is unbelievably flattering, and the dresses are just the most feminine and drool-worthy you could imagine; this one in particular would make an amazing wedding guest dress, me thinks...
