If I had a fashion crystal ball, I believe it would say that as much as peplum is one of the key shapes of AW 2012 tailoring, and that the ultimate winter cover-up is going to be the cape... for walks in the park and shopping expeditions on Sloane Street, easy to match, formal like the Queen's gorgeous black number at her Jubilee concert, or laid-back with flat motorcycle boots. I am basically in love with capes this season.
One of the coolest ones out there, more rock-chic meets country girl than fabulous night out, is this Lizabeth cape by Diane Von Furstenberg... The alpaca and wool mix looks incredibly soft, and the speckled colour make this such a versatile piece. I also like that it comes with a hood, something that makes it a bit more modern than most capes out there. True, it's pricey, but all the detailing, from the zip to the leather trimming makes this a truly amazing piece.
There you have it, my fashion lust-have of the week: Lizabeth cape by DVF.
