Favourite hotels: Hotel Scribe Paris

If travelling for business is very tiring (ok, sometimes it's super tiring...), there are a few perks: duty-free shopping in some airports can be totally drool-worthy and a good way to save a little when I stock up on designer shoes... and of course I get to stay in some really comfortable hotels, and over the years I've started to build my little list of favourites...

Although I don't usually stay in a hotel when in Paris, if I'm travelling with clients it's more practical and I really like Hotel Scribe's central location and the super comfy feel of its New England design. The rooms are modern and comfortable, and feature sleek and modern bathrooms, which is not the case in many of the French capital's luxury hotels.

Another reason to love this place is the excellent service, and I'm not even telling you about the yummy room service... I had a very late dinner (I confess, a club sandwich!) when I arrived on Monday night and it was exactly what I needed: it arrived quickly, it was warm, filling and perfect in all regards.

The bed was super comfortable, soft but not too soft, and room felt cosy as opposed to the cold feel I sometimes get in some of these big hotels.

The only low is the small size of the breakfast room, and the low level of staffing. In fact, by 8:00, there was quite a queue piling up with people trying to sit down... it was a rather dismissable affair to be honest, so if you can do walk over to one of the local cafes to have a good continental breakfast which doesn't cost the earth...

One thing this hotel is ideal for? A girlie shopping week-end getaway with the girls: it's located literally a minute walk away from the Galeries Lafayette and the Printemps, and the Faubourg Saint-Honore is close by as well... Lots of shopping!
