Wednesday's steal vs. splurge

Tartan, plaid, check... there were everywhere on this season's catwalks, from Vivienne Westwood to Burberry to Michael Kors (last time I checked, pretty cool names in the world of fashion, but you see I've been working non stop this past week,... hence the lack of posts and the slightly confused sense of style all of a sudden).

Trousers are a cool way to try this trend, if you ask me, as it's easy to take it all rock-n-roll or totally preppy with the change of a top and some accessories... the thing is, I don't think this is a trend I'm ready to commit to, so instead of investing big, I'm finding some nice and thrifty alternatives. The Wednesday steal vs. splurge series is back ladies!

Here are my top finds from the high street from left to right:
- Red tartan legging from Uniqlo, £14.90, also comes in black, grey, teal etc...
- A more tailored look, by Hobbs NW3, £119
- And finally, a blue and green tartan by Oasis, £45

What do you think ladies? Worth rocking this trend?

Depending on the pattern and colorway you choose, there doesn't have to be anything wild about this. I have a pair of Prince-of-Wales tartan trousers that I've had for probably five years. Granted, I'm not half the fashionista you are, and mine are definitely classic trousers. Still, they're easy to make wild with colored shoes, hose, sweater, scarf, etc. Just my two cents' worth, as we say.

Pam, you're totally right, this can be dressed in a rock-n-roll way or a very classic way, and that's exactly my kind of fashion: pieces which are versatile! xx. S
