Wednesday's steal vs. splurge

As I'm sure you've heard, Chanel is currently exhibiting at the Saatchi Gallery to celebrate the book co-produced by the slightly scary Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld (how apt for a Halloween post...) The exhibition focuses on 113 ways to adapt and wear the iconic little black jacket.

If you want to see it, make sure you rush, as it's only on until November 4th! I don't know whether work commitments will let me attend, but what I do know is that it's only a tiny fringe of the population who can afford the actual jacket, so, for the rest of us, here's a little steal vs. splurge post... all about the boxy boucle jackets!

As you can see I'm not too obsessed by the colour black, in fact I love the little boxy jackets in deep reds or muted greys to lift a plain black trousers and simple blouse outfit...

As you know I have the one on the left, by Iro... At £285 it's not exactly a steal but it's still much less than you'd have to fork out for a Chanel jacket, and if we were to do a little maths exercise of compliments value amortisation this one is now all written down!

Alternatively, if you really want something in black and super affordable, try Boohoo, this one is lovely at just  £35 and has lovely chain detail (not sure about the Pu hotpants though...)!

And finally, the brand of the wonderful AW 2012 collection: Mango, has a number of little boxy numbers this season, but this one, at £79.99, is my favourite.

Happy shopping!

LOL KL is more than slightly scary in my book. I'll have to remember him for a costume inspiration next time I need a Halloween get-up.

How was our little Monsieur Wild Thing last night?

Hi Pam! I agree, KL would make a fab Halloween character :) As to Monsieur Baby, well I couldn't believe my eyese: he had point blank refused to wear his costume everytime we tried, until Oct. 31st, when he diligently put it on, and went off to a Halloween party with his nanny. It's like he knew it was too early before!
