Oh hello there, Chanel 227 reissue...

When it comes to my relationship with handbags, it's an interesting love story... First there was the accumulation phase, where I would buy pretty much anything I could afford in my lust list, only to realise some pieces were just not for me, call it the "One night stands" phase, which eventually led to my "Declutter" phase, when I gave away, sold on, and generally defuzzed my collection to focus on the ones I loved... Bye bye LV Papillon, bye bye Prada Bauletto. Then there was the "Big Love" phase, named after the TV series, for I became a serial polygamist with Herm├Ęs Birkins, black, gold, bronze, gris tourterelle, graphite,... but to be honest, too much of the best things in life is just that, too much. I was getting bored.

Since then, I've entered a new phase, which I'll call "The Big Collection Edit". I've trimmed back on birkins, kept only my two favourites, the others went to homes where they are much more appreciated, and added some key pieces from other brands, a cabat by BV, a small 2.55 by Chanel, a Prada tote, a couple of Celines... and to be honest I'm far happier with my current handbag family. It's a much more diverse group and I'm never bored or feeling that I'm always toting the same bag.

And, dear friends, I'm thrilled to announce there is a new baby in my bag family, a Chanel reissue in distressed black leather with ruthenium hardware. I got this one from another fellow TPFer (ie a member of The Purse Forum) so it's not new, but the price-to-condition value was simply amazing and I had long given up of finding this model in one of the boutiques. See, everytime I visit a Chanel shop, the slightly icy and aloof sales assistants always seem intent on pushing a 2.55 jumbo with gold hardware and double-C clasp on me,... which often makes me wonder if that's really the style vibe that I exude, because if it is, I must change gears fast!!! That is not my kind of Chanel bag at all.

Thankfully, somewhere in the US, my little baby was waiting for me to find it. First, I love the size, it can easily fit my east-west wallet, my Lumix camera, a couple of cosmetics, my coin purse, and even a snack or two for Monsieur Baby. And it has a back pocket which is extremely handy for a slim smartphone and a couple of cards.

But mostly what drew me to this Chanel reissue is the distressed leather and ruthenium hardware, which give it a decisive non ladylike look and send it straight to a far more modern camp... Catch it on one of my outfit posts soon, and in the meanwhile, enjoy your Sunday night everyone! xxx

Cool ChaneI! Do you miss any of the bags that you've parted with?

Hi Flossie, to be honest I don't. I always take a very long time before letting a bag go and tend to reconsider sometimes, so when I make a final decision it's pretty thought-out. So far I haven't regretted any partings. xx

I nearly got mine from the store in Paris in November then I had to let the idea go...too many other purchases in the making. I know someday, I shall cherish mine too, haha
